On page 2, first full paragraph, the second sentence is revised to read: We affirmed on appeal (People v. Alcala (1992) 4 Cal.4th 742 (Alcala II)), but a federal district court set aside that judgment, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed the federal district court s judgment. (Alcala v. Woodford (9th Cir. 2003) 334 F.3d 862.) This modification does not effect a change in the judgment.
